On Tuesday, June 14, the Department of Education (DepEd) listed the significant achievements of its field operations strand under the administration of outgoing Secretary Leonor Briones.
One of the key accomplishments was the founding of the Child Safety Unit (CPU), which intended to improve DepEd’s policy on child protection.
Undersecretary for Field Operations Revsee Escobedo said, “DepEd has provided legislative support for various Senate and House Bills and has contributed to the development and implementation of laws and policies relative to child protection in schools.”
In addition to establishing CPU, Escobedo advocated the formation of the National Academy of Sports.
According to Escobedo, this was created to provide critical support to the university’s student-athletes while they were in a “distance learning setup.”
Additionally, Escobedo said, “Under the leadership of our dear Secretary Ma’am Liling Magtolis Briones, quality basic education was prioritized. I am optimistic that our students will grow into nationalistic and civil-minded citizens as the DepEd’s 10-point agenda and the Sulong Edukalidad program are implemented and implemented.”
